As we move further into the year, we're nearing the end of a significant seasonal event here in Los Cabos: the whale-watching season. These magnificent creatures grace our waters each year, offering locals and visitors a spectacular natural show. However, all good things must come to an end, and as the season closes, we prepare to say goodbye to our marine guests.


The Calving Season in Los Cabos: A Recap

The whale watching season in Los Cabos is not only a time for sightseeing but also a critical period for these marine giants. It's calving season, a time when female whales come to the warmer waters around the Baja Peninsula to give birth and nurture their young. This period is vital for the survival of calves, providing them with a safe haven from predators and harsh conditions of the open sea.



Migration: Where Do They Go?

As the season winds down, these whales prepare for a long journey ahead. They leave the warm waters of Los Cabos to head back to their feeding grounds, which can be located thousands of miles away in colder waters. For many, this means a journey to the nutrient-rich waters of the Arctic. This migration is one of the longest made by any mammal and is crucial for their survival, ensuring they have enough fat reserves to last them through the feeding season.
